I am excited to report that provincial and city officials keep showing their support for October 15 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. British Columbia and Saskatchewan proclaimed the day in 2014 while Manitoba and the Northwest Territories have previously declared it for each and every year.
Families from all over Canada contacted their local mayors to request proclamations of the day as well. So far the Cities of Vancouver, Richmond, Courtenay and Campbell River have approved such requests. Many more have been submitted and will hopefully be approved.
Cities that don’t proclaim awareness days at all are showing their support in other ways. Langley for example will mention the day in their Langley city council meeting that will be televised on Shaw Cable channel 4 on October 6. Three segments will be broadcast and the correspondence section of the meeting will likely be last. Tune in to see the day acknowledged in the meeting.
