In today’s society, pregnancy and infant loss is still a taboo subject. It is often not discussed, brushed aside and dismissed.
Women are told to keep their pregnancies a secret until the second trimester in case of an early loss. Stillbirths, medical terminations, and SIDS are things rarely discussed in prenatal care. It is this silence around loss that creates isolation and shame for those who experience it.
The reason we started the Butterfly Run was to break the silence around pregnancy and infant loss. We want our event to give families the opportunity to discuss their losses in a safe place. We hope our event creates greater awareness in the community.
Please join us between May 1st and May 16th, 2021 for our Virtual Butterfly Run, as we continue to speak openly, connect and share our stories of loss.
